Wall Mounted Vanity Units FAQ

What is the difference between a wall mounted and floor standing vanity unit?

A wall mounted vanity unit is fixed to the wall and creates a floating look, while a floor standing vanity unit sits directly on the floor. Wall mounted units can make a bathroom feel more spacious, while floor standing units can give a more solid, furniture-style look.

Can a wall mounted vanity unit hide pipework?

Yes, a wall mounted vanity unit can help hide pipework around the basin area, but this depends on your bathroom layout and existing plumbing. It is worth checking pipe positions before choosing your unit.

Are wall mounted vanity units safe?

Yes, wall mounted vanity units are safe when they are fitted correctly to a suitable wall. Because the unit is fixed off the floor, it needs proper support, secure fixings and professional installation, especially if it includes a basin, drawers or heavy countertop.

Before choosing a wall mounted vanity unit, it is important to check that your bathroom wall can support the weight of the unit and basin. A qualified fitter, plumber or builder can advise on the right fixing method for your wall type. When installed properly, wall mounted vanities are a strong, practical and stylish option for modern bathrooms and ensuites.

Are wall mounted vanity units good for small bathrooms?

Yes, wall mounted vanity units are a great choice for small bathrooms and ensuites. Because the floor is visible underneath and if you choose a small bathroom sink with cabinet they can make the room feel more open and less cluttered.

Are wall mounted vanity units easy to clean around?

Yes, one of the benefits of a wall mounted vanity unit is that the floor underneath is easier to reach. This can make cleaning the bathroom floor quicker and help the room feel more open.

Are wall mounted vanity units more expensive?

The unit itself is often cheaper than a floor standing vanity unit, but the overall cost depends on the size, finish, basin, tap and installation. Wall mounted vanities need to be securely fixed to a suitable wall, so fitting may be more involved, but they are popular for creating a modern, spacious look.
